KUCHING: Bumiputera entrepreneurs should venture into the lucrative beauty and healthcare-products businesses.
Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Hipni, in giving this advice, said Bumiputera entrepreneurs must not confine themselves to the food business, like making ‘kek lapis’ (layered cake).
He noted that the number of Bumiputera in the ‘kek lapis’ industry was increasing every year, but that was not the case in the beauty and healthcare-product sector.
“Bumiputera entrepreneurs must be more creative and be willing to venture into other fields.
“Beauty and healthcare products have great growth potential, provided they are managed efficiently,” he said at the launching of Chinta Ayu Health & Beauty Care at the Islamic Complex here, yesterday.
He added that the government would provide assistance to Bumiputera entrepreneurs who ventured into new sectors.
“If the product is halal, it can even be marketed in Middle East countries,” he said, pointing out that Demak Laut had a Taman Halal Mara for halal beauty and healthcare products.
Meanwhile, Chinta Ayu founder Mazlinda Ayu Abd Hamid said the people were now more conscious about their beauty and health.
She said the products were suitable for both the young and old.
